“As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field.” - Psalm 103:15
Wither brings together aspects of music that members of the underground community can love and enjoy. The musical influences range from heavy hitting bands like Harms Way to Hardcore giants like Trapped Under Ice. Add in melodic portions with influences like Title Fight and Defeater and you get Wither. Aside from the musical influences, there are a variety of things that come into play when writing such as renaissance art, Gregorian chants, prayers, and ancient wisdom. The band exists to spark thought, encourage conversation, and promote cultural and societal change.
The Sophomore EP entitled "Foundations" desires to provoke people to thought; what causes people to think the way they do? Are the actions of our thoughts making things better or worse? Is there even a solution to make things better? For years since its inception, Hardcore has been a culture quick to point the finger and complain about injustice. Passing blame and fault will never work to bring societal and cultural reformation. The arts however have been instrumental behind reformation. Behind every great movement in history, the arts have been there guiding cultures and bringing transformation to societies. Wither gets back to the basics of Hardcore Punk by writing lyrics that address social and cultural issues of our day and connect it with their spirituality.
Foundations was recorded with Levi Miller of Front and Center Recordings (Threads, Foreign Hands, Heavens Die, Mike Frazier) and mixed and mastered by Will Beasley (Turnstile, Handguns, Emarosa). It will be released March 21, 2016 and available online through Spotify and Bandcamp.
